Ideally, learning takes place in a classroom, with teachers facilitating instruction and students engaging in science and problem solving. But when in-person learning is not an option, students shouldn’t stop building knowledge. That’s why Great Minds® created PhD Science in Sync™, a continuous learning program designed to help students and teachers continue rich science education at home.
“Building enduring knowledge of science should not stop just because students are not in the classroom. PhD Science in Sync ensures that students have access to a high-quality and coherent curriculum regardless of their location. As students navigate this pandemic and a changing educational landscape, there’s no better time for students to question the world around them and develop tools to explore and make sense of it.”
—Pam Goodner, Chief Academic Officer, Science
The PhD Science® curriculum and PhD Science in Sync are complementary educational programs: one is for classroom instruction, the other is our new program designed for distance learning. They are seamlessly integrated to ensure that students keep building knowledge in a changing educational landscape. Students can fully participate in a PhD Science hands-on lesson in the classroom one day and move to the subsequent lesson with PhD Science in Sync at home the next. And if some students are in class while others are at home, everyone will be focused on building knowledge around the same science concepts.
The continuous learning lessons are flexible, and students can complete them with only paper and pencil, a blended online and offline model (recommended), or online only. Teachers can tailor the approach to suit the needs of individuals, groups, or full classes.
Together, PhD Science and PhD Science in Sync enable teachers in these uncertain times to continue to inspire students to wonder about the world and empower them to make sense of it. Please complete the form at the bottom of this page to access a sample lesson and supporting materials.
